The Boulevard Ensemble
The Boulevard Ensemble Studio Theatre will hold auditions for its 23rd season on Friday, May 9 from 5:30 to 9 pm and on Saturday, May 10 from 2 to 7 p.m. Additional audition times may be later announced. Adult and young actors (high school age and above) of varied experience levels and ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to audition. Those auditioning are asked to present two memorized, contrasting monologues which do not exceed five minutes total audition time. Artists appearing with the Boulevard receive a stipend.
All auditions will be held at the Boulevard Theatre, located at 2252 South Kinnickinnic (one-half block north of the intersections of Lincoln Avenue, Kinnickinnic Avenue, and Howell). Destination Celebration
Destination Celebration in Hartland seeks actors for children’s party host. We are looking for charismatic, talented actors who work well with children and teens and who can bring the magic of parties to life! Successful candidates will attend an audition where they are introduced to the party themes. Each party has dialog, an activity such as dance, singing, or acting, and role-playing for the host. During the audition, the candidate will be asked to take the material and create the character. Once trained, the host will earn $40 to $50 per one and one-half hour party. Discovery World seeks part-time actors. Discovery World actors provide performances in media productions & live theater shows. Actors perform regularly throughout the Discovery World facility. The Florentine Opera Company
The Florentine Opera Company announces auditions in Milwaukee for its 2008-2009 season. The season will feature MADAMA BUTTERFLY, November 21, 22, 23, 2008; SEMELE, February 27, 28 & March 1, 2009; THE MAGIC FLUTE April 17, 18, 19, 2009. Auditions will be heard strictly for comprimario roles, membership into the chorus and outreach roles. Auditions will be held Monday, June 2 from 2 p.m. - 9 p.m., Tuesday, June 3 from 2 p.m. - 9 .p.m and Wednesday, June 4 from 2 p.m. - 9 p.m., at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, 325 W. Walnut. The Florentine Opera will provide an accompanist. General Director William Florescu and Artistic Advisor Joseph Rescigno will be present for these auditions. Milwaukee Children’s Choir
Milwaukee Children’s Choir announces enrollment for the 2008-2009 season for children in grades 1-8. Prelude choir (grades 1-3) does not require a formal audition. Concert Choir (grades 4-8) requires an audition that includes singing and a musical evaluation. No previous choral or musical experience is required, but the child should enjoy singing. The Milwaukee Youth Chorale
The Milwaukee Youth Chorale is a choral organization open to young men and women in grades 9 through 12. Singers should have previous choral, vocal or musical experience and will be selected on the basis of audition. The ensemble performs SATB, SSA, and TTBB choral literature of all types and emphasizes vocal development, music literacy and college prep music theory skills. Several concerts are presented yearly. Danceworks
Danceworks Inc., a non-profit arts organization is seeking dancers who would like to work at our downtown studio in exchange for classes. Duties of those accepted into our work-study program include daily and thorough maintenance of our facilities (i.e. vacuuming, mopping, and dusting), special projects as needed and possibly some administrative jobs (depending on qualifications) on an asneeded basis. Work-study also includes any other projects that come up during the year that need manpower for completion. Sunset Playhouse
Sunset Playhouse has an immediate opening for a part-time (evenings and weekends) box office staff person. Position Description: To oversee all box office affairs of the Playhouse using accepted business and box office practices while presenting a friendly but professional Sunset image in dealing with the public. Responsibilities include: selling tickets using the computerized ticketing system, including successfully completing credit card transactions. Reconcile till and calculate income. Run all end of day reports. On evenings & days with performances, print the tickets for that evening, sell tickets for performance, instruct ushers and house managers, coordinate with stage manager to start performance on time, sell tickets at intermission and following procedures, close down the box office and building. Milwaukee Repertory Theater
Milwaukee Repertory Theater’s Education Department is once again offering classes to adults! Classes for the 2007-2008 season include: Basic Acting I, II & III, Acting for the Camera I & II and playwrighting. Basic Acting I focuses on ensemble building, improvisation and monologues. In Basic Acting II, students learn the basics of scene study. Basic Acting III builds on the skills learned in I & II while students embark in advanced scene study. Racine Theatre Guild
Registration is underway for summer theatre classes at the Racine Theatre Guild taught by professional actor/instructors from Milwaukee. The objective of the classes is to build communication skills, cultivate performance ability, unleash creativity and have fun through basic acting training. Previous acting experience is not necessary. Session 1, “Acting Fundamentals,” grades 4-6, covers basic acting and scene study, beginning with interactive games and progressing to original student-written monologues and scenes, as well as short scenes from actual plays. Meets Monday through Friday, July 7-18, from 9 a.m.-12 noon. The instructor is Jacque Troy, who has been education director for both the Milwaukee Repertory Theater and Chamber Theatre. Session 2, “Monologues, Scenes and Improvisation,” grades 7- 9, starts with interactive games designed to give an understanding of basic physical on-stage techniques, and then progresses to monologues and short scenes, both scripted and improvisational. This will help students to land roles at auditions. Meets Monday through Friday, July 21-August 1, from 9 a.m.-12 noon. Instructor Amy Booth Geyser returns to the RTG for a third summer. Tuition for either session is $180 per child. A $60 deposit is required to register and is applied to tuition. The remaining $120 is due by the first day of class. Both sessions culminate in an informal showcase that parents can attend on the last day of class.
