A Fantasia on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins

March 14 – 30, 2008

Written by: Stephen Temperley

Stage Director: Bill Theisen

Imagine what can happen when the love of art is all consuming.  Based on true events, SOUVENIR is the funny and poignant story of the musical career of Florence Foster Jenkins, a wealthy society eccentric of the 1930s and 40s who suffered under the delusion that she was a great coloratura soprano.  She became tremendously popular for her complete lack of singing ability.  Her annual charity recitals at the Ritz Carlton ballroom in New York City and performances at other venues brought her cult status, culminating in her legendary sold-out concert at Carnegie Hall.
